A major transportation hub, Omaha was once considered little more than a stopping point on a pioneer's journey west.
Museum-lovers will get to explore The Durham Museum and Omaha Children's Museum. Visiting Fontenelle Forest Nature Center and Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center will get you outdoors. Change things up with a short trip to Pioneer Park Nature Center in Lincoln (about 1h 10 min away). Next up on the itinerary: observe the fascinating underwater world at Henry Doorly Zoo, explore the world behind art at Joslyn Art Museum, get a taste of the local shopping with Old Market, and identify plant and animal life at Prairie Queen Recreation Area.

To see reviews, where to stay, and other tourist information, you can read our Omaha trip planner.

The Route module shows you travel options from your home to Omaha. In July, daily temperatures in Omaha can reach °F, while at night they dip to °F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Wed) so you can drive to Kearney.
