Known nationally as an industrial heartland, Nagoya boasts a far more cosmopolitan and cultural core than its reputation would lead you to believe.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Sakae and Itoju Honten. Your inner history buff will appreciate Tsukiyominomiya and Nagoya Castle. Get out of town with these interesting Nagoya side-trips: Ise (Yamato-hime Shrine, Aramatsurinomiya, & more), Nakasendo Walking Trail, Tsumagojuku (in Nagiso-machi) and Inuyama (Inuyama Castle & The Little World Museum of Man). There's lots more to do: see the interesting displays at Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology, take in the spiritual surroundings of Taga Taisha, wander the streets of Osu Shopping Street, and appreciate the extensive heritage of 玄宮園 - Genkyūen Garden 玄宮園.

If you are flying in from Thailand, the closest major airports are Chubu Centrair International Airport, Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport and Osaka International Airport. In November, daily temperatures in Nagoya can reach 16°C, while at night they dip to 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 19th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel back home.
