Often described as the city of laptops and lederhosen, Munich is an international center of business, engineering, research, and medicine that still maintains a rich cultural heritage and age-old traditions.
BMW Museum and NS-Dokumentationszentrum Muenchen will appeal to museum buffs. Popular historic sites such as Schloss Neuschwanstein and Pilgrimage Church of Wies are in your itinerary. Change things up with these side-trips from Munich: Buchheim Museum of Imagination (in Bernried am Starnberger See), Fussen (Benediktinerkloster St. Mang & Altstadt von Fuessen) and Regensburg (Basilica of the Nativity of Our Lady Regensburg, Golf Museum, &more). There's still lots to do: explore the historical opulence of Schloss Schleissheim, head outdoors with Alpine Coaster Oberammergau, contemplate the long history of Nymphenburg Palace, and explore the world behind art at Alte Pinakothek.

To see ratings, photos, other places to visit, and more tourist information, you can read our Munich online journey planner.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Flughafen München-Riem, Memmingen Allgau Airport and Nuremberg Airport. In July, plan for daily highs up to 77°F, and evening lows to 55°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Thu) early enough to travel back home.
