Paris of the North

Often referred to as "The Paris of the North," Riga offers thriving nightlife and some of the best collections of Art Nouveau architecture in Europe.
Escape the urban bustle at Vecaki Beach and Jurmala Beach. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Origo and Doma Antikvariats. There's much more to do: stop by Art Nouveau Riga, visit Kalnciema Quarter, take an in-depth tour of National History Museum of Latvia, and take in nature's colorful creations at Vermanes Garden.

Liepāja, is a city in western Latvia, located on the Baltic Sea directly at 21°E. Get a sense of the local culture at Northern Forts and Karosta Prison. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like St. Nicholas Orthodox Sea Cathedral and St. Joseph's Cathedral. Change things up with these side-trips from Liepaja: Edole Castle (in Edole), Jurmalciems beach (in Jurmalciems) and Aizpute Castle (in Aizpute).
