Windermere

— 6 nights
Windermere is the largest natural lake in England. Explore Windermere's surroundings by going to Bowness-on-Windermere (The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, Boat Tours & Water Sports, &more) and Sizergh Castle (in Kendal). There's lots more to do: skim along the rocks with a canyoning and rapelling tour, stroll through Brockhole on Windermere, step into the grandiose world of Wray Castle, and contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Windermere.

To find more things to do, photos, where to stay, and other tourist information, read Windermere trip planner.

Linton to Windermere is an approximately 5-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of flight and car. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Sun) early enough to travel back home.

A paradise for all lovers of the great outdoors, UNESCO World Heritage-listed Lake District is widely regarded as one of the most stunning areas of natural beauty in the UK. This mountainous region famously served as inspiration for some of the finest works of artists William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Containing the country’s largest national park, the Lake District is England’s top vacation destination for hikers and rock climbers. Nature lovers from around the world linger in this area for days and even weeks, sightseeing in the sweeping landscape of rugged hilltops, glistening lakes, dense forests, and hazy mountaintops. The region abounds in numerous hidden pubs, inns, and hotels, offering not only shelter from the weather, but also first-class dining and drinking options.
