Halong Bay

— 1 night
Halong Bay encompasses a cluster of verdant limestone islets that jut out from the sea and make up an enchanting setting recognized as a World Heritage Site.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Syrena Cruises. Kick off your visit on the 1st (Sat): get a new perspective on things with Viola Halong Travel, step off the mainland to explore Hon Ga Choi Island, revel in the low prices at Ha Long Pearl, add some adventure to your tour with Syrena Cruises, then take in the views from Bãi Cháy Bridge, and finally wander the streets of Cua Van Floating Village. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: explore the activities along Lan Ha Bay, then stroll through Cat Co 1 Beach, and then take an in-depth tour of Bảo Tàng Quảng Ninh.

For other places to visit, maps, where to stay, and other tourist information, read Halong Bay journey planning site.

Ho Chi Minh City

— 4 nights

Pearl of the Far East

Formerly known in the West as Saigon and affectionately referred to as the "Pearl of the Far East," Ho Chi Minh City is a study of old and new, woven and piled together in a fast-paced urban hub.
Dong Khoi Street and The Sun 2 Artgallery are good opportunities to explore the local culture. For shopping fun, head to Villa Royale Antiques and Tea Room or Saigon Kitsch. Venture out of the city with trips to Song Be Golf Resort (in Di An) and Cao Dai Temple (in Tay Ninh). There's still lots to do: catch a live performance at Saigon Opera House (Ho Chi Minh Municipal Theater), stop by L'Usine Dong Khoi, and buy something for everyone on your list at Aeon Mall Tan Phu Celadon Shopping Center.

To find maps, other places to visit, ratings, and tourist information, go to the Ho Chi Minh City road trip planning website.

You can do a combination of ferry and flight from Halong Bay to Ho Chi Minh City in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of ferry, car, and train; or do a combination of ferry and bus. In April, plan for daily highs up to 41°C, and evening lows to 30°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
