Grado

— 6 nights
Grado is a town and comune in the north-eastern Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located on an island and adjacent peninsula of the Adriatic Sea between Venice and Trieste.Once mainly a fishing center, today it is a popular tourist destination, known commonly as L'Isola del Sole ("The Sunny Island"), also famous because it is also a spa town; together with Marano Lagunare, it is the center of the Marano-Grado Lagoon, which is famous for its uncontaminated nature. Shop till you drop at Palmanova Village and Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli. Let the collections at Castello di Gorizia and Galleria Comunale D'arte Contemporanea Di Monfalcone capture your imagination. Change things up with these side-trips from Grado: Casa delle Farfalle (in Bordano), Cividale del Friuli - UNESCO World Heritage Centre (in Cividale del Friuli) and Castle of Duino (in Duino). There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Basilica di Aquileia, step into the grandiose world of Il Castello di Udine, take in the pleasant sights at Lungomare Nazario Sauro, and contemplate the waterfront views at Laghi di Fusine.
