A diverse animal life makes Fianarantsoa Province a popular tourism destination, sheltering several endemic species of birds and snakes. The region's capital, home to some of the island's oldest Lutheran and Protestant cathedrals, serves as an excellent starting point for exploring the hinterlands. A tour of Fianarantsoa Province reveals a subtropical paradise with many reserves, national parks, and navigable rivers. No Fianarantsoa Province vacation would be complete without visiting lemur sanctuaries, trekking through the wilderness, and relaxing on exotic beaches.
