Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
On the 29th (Thu), take in the exciting artwork at Earthen Vessel Gallery, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Columba Catholic Church, and then hike along Rim Trail/ Campus Loop.

Las Cruces to Durango is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus, train, taxi, and car. Traveling from Las Cruces in April, things will get slightly colder in Durango: highs are around 62°F and lows about 28°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Moab.

Moab

Red Desert

The gateway to Utah's popular canyon country, Moab sits engulfed in the middle of desert wilderness.
Start off your visit on the 30th (Fri): explore the striking landscape at Turret Arch, then explore the striking landscape at Windows, and then explore and take pictures at Arches National Park Scenic Drive. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 1st (Sat): trek along Park Avenue Trail, then explore the landscape on two wheels at Slickrock Bike Trail, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Bike Fiend, and finally stroll through Grandstaff Canyon Trail.

You can drive from Durango to Moab in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and car. Traveling from Durango in April, Moab is somewhat warmer at night with lows of 38°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 2nd (Sun) early enough to travel to Gunnison.

Gunnison

The City of Gunnison is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Gunnison County, Colorado, United States. Step off the beaten path and head to Dillon Pinnacles and Hermit's Rest. Escape the urban bustle at Neversink and Trail 403. Change things up with these side-trips from Gunnison: Crested Butte (Union Congregational Church & Lower Loop Mountain Bike Trail). There's more to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Curecanti Creek and hike along Pine Creek.
