Castro Urdiales

— 6 nights
Castro Urdiales is a seaport of northern Spain, in the autonomous community of Cantabria, situated on the Bay of Biscay. Museo de Coches Clasicos y Antiguos Torre Loizaga and Cementerio de Ballena are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Appreciate the collections at La Encartada Fabrika Museoa and Museo de la Mineria del Pais Vasco. Get out of town with these interesting Castro Urdiales side-trips: Castillo de Las Cuevas (in Cebolleros), Cascada de El Penon (in Pedrosa de Tobalina) and Santa Eulalia de Boveda (in Boveda). There's lots more to do: see the interesting displays at Centro De Interpretacion Del Hombre Pez, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Iglesia de Santa Maria, Head underground at Cueva Cullalvera, and kick back and relax at Playa de Bazomar.

To find where to stay, photos, reviews, and other tourist information, go to the Castro Urdiales journey planner.

If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major aiports are Bilbao Airport and Santander Airport. In August in Castro Urdiales, expect temperatures between 31°C during the day and 19°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
