Huashi

Nestled between the sea and the mountains, Hualien boasts a number of attractions, both natural and manmade.
Get some cultural insight at Lintienshan Forestry Culture Park and Xiangde Temple. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Shakadang Trail and Mukumugi Valley. Take a break from Hualien with a short trip to Yushan National Park in Shuili, about 1h 35 min away. There's still lots to do: trek along Baiyang Trail, explore the landscape on two wheels at Qixing Lake Binhai Bicycle Road, head outdoors with Yanzihkou Trail (Swallow Grotto), and take a memorable drive along Su-Hua Highway.

Eastern City

Sitting between the mountains and the sea, Taitung offers pleasing scenery no matter what direction you face.
Escape the urban bustle at East Coast National Scenic Area and Green Island. Step off the beaten path and head to Orchid Island(Lanyu) and Taitung Bicycle Road. There's lots more to do: step off the mainland to explore Sanxiantai, grab your bike and head to Guanshan Bicycle Path, head outdoors with Taitung Ocean Mountain Bikeway, and Head underground at Lover Cave.

A small trading town in the 17th century, Kaohsiung now stands as a sprawling metropolis, its harbor representing the largest on the island.
