Situated in a basin between two mountain ranges, Taipei appeals to tourists with its blend of Asian cultures, living side by side amidst Japanese-era mansions and Taoist temples.
Get out of town with these interesting Taipei side-trips: Yonglian Temple (in Luzhou), Pingxi (Shifen Waterfall Walk Area, Shifen Waterfall, &more) and Banqiao (The Lin Family Mansion and Garden & National Taiwan University of Arts). Spend the 12th (Fri) exploring nature at Yangmingshan National Park. Cranbrook, Canada to Taipei is an approximately 21-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 15 hours traveling from Cranbrook to Taipei. In November, Taipei is warmer than Cranbrook - with highs of 29°C and lows of 22°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Fri) early enough to catch the train to Hualien.

Taitung

Sitting between the mountains and the sea, Taitung offers pleasing scenery no matter what direction you face.
Taitung is known for nature, parks, and museums. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: identify plant and animal life at Sanxiantai, step off the mainland to explore Green Island, head outdoors with Shanhai Tiema Dao, and grab your bike and head to Guanshan Bicycle Path.

Traveling by car from Hualien to Taitung takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 26th (Fri) to allow time to drive to Hengchun.

Hengchun

Located on the southern tip of the eponymous peninsula, Hengchun serves as the entry point to Kenting National Park, often attracting more travelers than locals with its tropical beach resorts and bustling night markets.
Spend the 29th (Mon) exploring nature at Kenting National Park. Next up on the itinerary: observe the fascinating underwater world at National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, witness the site of a historic battle at Mudan Shihmen Battle Field, walk around Longpan Park, and identify plant and animal life at Wildlife Areas.
