Quito

— 59 nights

Light of America

High in the Andean foothills, Quito remains one of the world's most photogenic capital cities, featuring two dramatic mountain ranges as its backdrop.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Quito: Cotacachi (Iglesia Matriz, Museo de las Culturas, &more), Tabacundo (Cochasqui Pyramids & Lagunas De Mojanda) and Quitsato (in Cayambe). On the 15th (Tue), give your taste buds a day to remember with a local gastronomic tour. Saddle up on the 23rd (Wed) and explore with a tour on horseback. There's lots more to do: take an in-depth tour of Museo Templo del Sol Pintor Ortega Maila, admire the sheer force of Cascada de Peguche, pause for some serene contemplation at Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco, and make a trip to Mitad Del Mundo.

For other places to visit, maps, photos, and tourist information, use the Quito visit planner.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Mariscal Sucre International Airport and Cotopaxi International Airport. In June, plan for daily highs up to 73°F, and evening lows to 59°F.
