Columbus, USA to San Juan is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and car. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time to Atlantic Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Traveling from Columbus in December, expect San Juan to be warmer, temps between 85°F and 75°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Mon) so you can go by car to Ponce.

Traveling by car from San Juan to Ponce takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a shuttle. Plan for little chillier temperatures traveling from San Juan in December, with highs in Ponce at 80°F and lows at 70°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Wed) early enough to drive to Rincon.

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Museum-lovers will appreciate Siddhia Hutchinson Fine Art Gallery and Gallery Galleon. Head to Isla Vida and Fish Marketfor plenty of shopping. There's much more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Sun Bay, stroll through La Chiva, discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour, and look for all kinds of wild species at Vieques National Wildlife Refuge.

You can fly from Rincon to Isla de Vieques in 3 hours. Other options are to do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of car, shuttle, and ferry. In January, plan for daily highs up to 82°F, and evening lows to 72°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 22nd (Wed) early enough to travel to Culebra.

With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Get in touch with nature at Flamenco Beach and Zoni Beach. Relax by the water at Tamarindo Beach and Brava Beach. There's lots more to do: step off the mainland to explore Culebrita Island, identify plant and animal life at Culebra National Wildlife Refuge, enjoy the sand and surf at Culebra National Wildlife, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Melones Beach.
