Perched beneath the foothills of several soaring mountains, the town of Minakami-machi provides a picturesque stepping stone from which to explore the dramatic surrounding scenery.

Maebashi is a city located in central Gunma Prefecture in the northern Kantō region (plain) of Japan. Popular historic sites such as Tomioka Silk Mill and Ikaho Stone Steps are in your itinerary. Bring the kids along to Konnyaku Park and Haruna Shrine. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Maebashi: Takasaki (Lake Haruna, Kannagawa Kosenjo, &more), Shibukawa (Kajikabashi, Onsen Resorts, &more) and Chikyuya Haruna (in Shinto-mura). There's still lots to do: take in the awesome beauty at Mt. Nabewari, take in the spiritual surroundings of Maebashi Catholic Church, test the waters at a local thermal spa, and see the interesting displays at Kiryu Textile Museum.
