Get a sense of the local culture at Westminster Abbey and Natural History Museum. Visit Buckingham Palace and Churchill War Rooms for their historical value. Situated on the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss, York has witnessed an abundance of major political events throughout its two millennia of existence.
You'll get in some beach time at Durham Heritage Coast and Filey Beach. Take a break from the city and head to York Bird of Prey Centre and Ladybower Reservoir. Get out of town with these interesting York side-trips: Fountains Abbey (in Ripon), Walworth Castle Birds of Prey (in Walworth) and Durham (Seaham Beach & Durham Cathedral).
