The cultural hub of the district, San Ignacio neatly blends tourism and tradition, expats and indigenous peoples into a convincingly authentic, but modern and welcoming inland town.
Xunantunich Mayan Ruins and Cahal Pech will appeal to history buffs. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Green Iguana Conservation Project and ATM Cave Belize- Actun Tunichil Muknal. Go for a jaunt from San Ignacio to Belmopan to see St Herman's Cave about 1h 10 min away. Spend the 20th (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. On the 19th (Fri), spend an adventurous day with a kayaking and canoeing tour.
