Catanzaro

— 59 nights
Catanzaro, also known as the city of the two seas, is an Italian city of 91,000 inhabitants and the capital of the Calabria region and of its province. The archbishop's seat was the capital of the province of Calabria Ultra for over 200 years. Get out of town with these interesting Catanzaro side-trips: Cotronei (Chiesa di San Nicola Vescovo & Lago Ampollino), Parco Avventura Principe (in Petilia Policastro) and Cascatelle del Crocchio (in Sersale). Plan for a day of cool, family-friendly fun on the 29th (Wed) at AcquaPark Odissea 2000. There's still lots to do: walk around Parco della Biodiversita Mediterranea, make a trip to Statua del Cavatore, enjoy the sand and surf at Tropea Beach, and appreciate the extensive heritage of Lungomare Falcomata.

If you are flying in from Brazil, the closest major aiport is Lamezia Terme Airport. Expect a daytime high around 22°C in April, and nighttime lows around 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Thu) to allow enough time to travel back home.
