Tanga

Tanga is both the name of the most northerly seaport city of Tanzania, and the surrounding Tanga Region. Step out of Tanga with an excursion to Kasa Divers in Pangani--about 1h 25 min away. And it doesn't end there: Head underground at Amboni Caves, take an in-depth tour of Urithi Tanga Museum, and look for gifts at Abdul Jewellers.

Plan a trip to Tanga easily and quickly by telling Inspirock to suggest an itinerary.

Dar es Salaam to Tanga is an approximately 4.5-hour combination of taxi and flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and car. When traveling from Dar es Salaam in August, plan for slightly colder days and a bit warmer nights in Tanga: temperatures range from 30°C by day to 30°C at night. On the 28th (Fri), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Lushoto.

Tailor-made for ecotourism, the Tanga Region boasts unspoiled natural resources, untamed landscapes, and robust plant and animal life. Several national parks offer insight into Tanzania's northeastern wildlife, as well as the forest conservation efforts that support rare birds and the endangered red colobus monkey. Outdoor adventurers on holiday in the Tanga Region shouldn't miss the Usambara Mountains, one of the world's most biodiverse areas; the former German colonial town of Lushoto provides a comfortable base for exploration of the woodlands.
