On the 16th (Thu), wander the streets of Old San Juan, admire the masterpieces at Museo de Las Americas, and then get to know the fascinating history of Sitio Histórico de San Juan.

Boston, USA to San Juan is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of ferry and flight. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Atlantic Standard Time (AST), which is usually a 1 hour difference. With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
On the 17th (Fri), step off the mainland to explore Culebrita Island, then visit a coastal fixture at Culebrita Lighthouse, and then examine the collection at Museo Historico de Culebra. Keep things going the next day: enjoy the sand and surf at Melones Beach and then discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour.

Culebra is very close to San Juan. In January, daytime highs in Culebra are 84°F, while nighttime lows are 73°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel to Isla de Vieques.

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Start off your visit on the 19th (Sun): take some stellar pictures from Puerto Ferro Lighthouse, explore the ancient world of El Hombre de Puerto Ferro, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Sun Bay Beach. On the next day, view the masterpieces at Siddhia Hutchinson Fine Art Gallery, look for gifts at Isla Vida, and then steep yourself in history at Isabel Segunda.

You can do a combination of flight and car from Culebra to Isla de Vieques in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can ride a ferry. Expect a daytime high around 82°F in January, and nighttime lows around 72°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 20th (Mon) to allow time to travel back home.
