Tokyo to Matsumoto is an approximately 3-hour car ride. You can also take a train; or take a bus. While traveling from Tokyo, expect a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Matsumoto, ranging from highs of 19°C to lows of 10°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 1st (Sat) early enough to go by car to Kofu.

You can drive from Matsumoto to Kofu in 1.5 hours. Another option is to take a train. Expect a bit cooler weather when traveling from Matsumoto in May: highs in Kofu hover around 21°C, while lows dip to 19°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Mon) early enough to go by car to Izu.

Izu

Izu sits in the center of the mountainous Izu Peninsula.

Getting from Kofu to Izu by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a train; or take a bus. Expect somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Kofu in May: highs in Izu hover around 25°C, while lows dip to 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 4th (Tue) to allow time to drive back home.
