The port city of Kochi has a rich and varied history that has left its mark on the look and feel of the urban area.
Kick off your visit on the 5th (Thu): make a trip to Ryoma Sakamoto Bronze Statue, get outside with Katsura Hama, appreciate the history behind Chosokabe Motochika Statue, don't miss a visit to Harimaya Bridge, then hunt for treasures at Hirome Ichiba, and finally step into the grandiose world of Kochi Castle. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 6th (Fri): get to know the resident critters at Noichi Zoological Park of Kochi Prefecture, take an in-depth tour of Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Chikurinji Temple, then take in nature's colorful creations at The Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden, and finally get engrossed in the history at Sakamoto Ryoma's Hometown Museum.

Otsuki-cho to Kochi is an approximately 3-hour car ride. In December in Kochi, expect temperatures between 55°F during the day and 39°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 7th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Matsuyama.

You can drive from Kochi to Matsuyama in 2.5 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or take a train. In December, daily temperatures in Matsuyama can reach 53°F, while at night they dip to 43°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel back home.
