Famous for the groves of coconut trees from which it takes its name, Kovalam offers a long, white sandy beach on the Arabian Sea.
On the 20th (Thu), kick back and relax at Lighthouse Beach and then enjoy the sand and surf at Kovalam Beach. On your second day here, take in the spiritual surroundings of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, then see the interesting displays at Sunil's Wax Museum, then examine the collection at Puthenmalika (Kuthiramalika) Palace, and finally browse the different shops at Mall of Travancore.

Hyderabad to Kovalam is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. Expect slightly colder weather when traveling from Hyderabad in May: highs in Kovalam hover around 37°C, while lows dip to 30°C. A flourishing port city and magnet for the spice trade since the 15th century, Kochi (Cochin) proudly bears its distinct international influence and local Keralan culture.
