Kalamata is the second most populous city of the Peloponnese peninsula, after Patras, in southern Greece and the largest city of the homonymous administrative region. Change things up with these side-trips from Kalamata: Olympia (Archaeological Site of Olympia & Archaeological Museum of Olympia), Nafplio (Kolokotroni Statue, Nauplion Promenade, &more) and Mycenae (Archaeological Site Mycenae & Citadel and Treasury of Atreus). There's still lots to do: stroll through Voidokilia Beach, explore the historical opulence of Castle of Kalamata, kick back and relax at Kalamata Beach, and see the interesting displays at Victoria G. Karelias Collection of Greek Traditional Costumes.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiport is Kalamata Airport. In July in Kalamata, expect temperatures between 90°F during the day and 66°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 29th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
