Start off your visit on the 7th (Sun): engage your brain at Denver Museum of Nature & Science and then see a show at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre.

Known as a ski resort town, Aspen's history goes back to its roots as a silver-mining village tucked away in an isolated valley of the Rocky Mountains.
On the 8th (Mon), take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Maroon Bells. On the 9th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: pause for some photo ops at The John Denver Sanctuary and then cruise along Independence Pass.

You can fly from Denver to Aspen in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and car. In August, Aspen is little chillier than Denver - with highs of 77°F and lows of 46°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Tue) early enough to travel to Durango.

Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
Popular historic sites such as Cliff Palace and Petroglyph Point Hike are in your itinerary. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Long House and Spruce Tree House.
