Cartagena

City of Heroes

The site of the continent's first Spanish colony, Cartagena retains much of its colonial flavor thanks to a World Heritage-listed old town, encircled by old walls and protected by imposing fortresses.
Get a sense of the local culture at Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas and Convent of Santa Cruz de la Popa. Popular historic sites such as Walled City of Cartagena and Sanctuary of Saint Peter Claver are in your itinerary. Take a break from Cartagena with a short trip to Playa Blanca in Isla Baru, about 1h 5 min away. Spend the 27th (Thu) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at Plaza Santo Domingo, admire the striking features of Las Bovedas, don't miss a visit to Plaza Bolivar, and get engrossed in the history at Museo del Oro Zenu.
