Carrickfergus, colloquially known as "Carrick", is a large town in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Shop till you drop at Breakwater Studio and The Puffin Gallery. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Mussenden Temple and Ballycastle Beach. Change things up with these side-trips from Carrickfergus: Marine Gardens Coastal Walk (in Bangor), Ballycastle (Kinbane Castle, Bonamargie Friary, & more) and Grey Abbey (in Portaferry). Next up on the itinerary: steep yourself in history at Andrew Jackson Centre, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. Nicholas Church, enjoy the sand and surf at Ballygally Beach, and stop by Steensons Jewelers.

For where to stay, more things to do, maps, and more tourist information, refer to the Carrickfergus trip planner .

If you are flying in from Switzerland, the closest major airports are George Best Belfast City Airport, Belfast International Airport and Glasgow Prestwick Airport. Expect a daytime high around 13°C in April, and nighttime lows around 5°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
