Nestled within the Bavarian Alps, Garmisch-Partenkirchen offers a classic mountain feel along with world-class winter sports.
Visit Schloss Linderhof and Oberammergau Church for their historical value. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Mount Tegelberg and Hollentalklamm. Change things up with these side-trips from Garmisch-Partenkirchen: St. Lorenz Basilica (in Kempten), Ottobeuren Abbey (in Ottobeuren) and Schloss Hohenschwangau (in Hohenschwangau). There's much more to do: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Wank Mountain, make a trip to Pfarrkirche St. Martin, identify plant and animal life at Partnachklamm, and fly down the slopes at Alpspitz.

Munich to Garmisch-Partenkirchen is an approximately 1.5-hour car ride. You can also take a bus; or take a train. Expect a daytime high around 28°C in June, and nighttime lows around 14°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Tue) early enough to drive back home.
