The home of giant pandas for more than two million years, Chengdu's vast human history cowers in comparison to the natural heritage of the area.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Chengdu: Dujiangyan (Dujiangyan Irrigation System & Yuzui Diversion Channel), Leshan Giant Buddha (Da Fo) (in Leshan) and Guanghan Sanxingdui Museum (in Guanghan). Spend the 6th (Thu) behind the viewfinder with an inspiring photography tour. There's lots more to do: get engrossed in the history at Jinsha Site Museum, examine the collection at Sanhe Classic Car Museum, walk around Beihu Park, and visit West China Center of Medical Sciences.

The capital and largest city in the country, Ulaanbaatar stands as Mongolia's transport, cultural, and commercial hub.
Get out of town with these interesting Ulaanbaatar side-trips: Ariyabal Meditation Temple (in Gorkhi Terelj National Park) and Amarbayasgalant Monastery (in Amar Hiyd).
