Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Centro Storico di Venezia and Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. Explore hidden gems such as Scuola Grande di San Rocco and Cannaregio. Venture out of the city with trips to No Exit (in Udine), Road of 52 Tunnels (in Valli del Pasubio) and Basilica di Aquileia (in Aquileia). There's still lots to do: make a trip to Piazza San Marco, take a stroll through Campo del Ghetto, explore the historical opulence of Palazzo Malipiero, and pause for some serene contemplation at Santa Maria dei Miracoli.

Townsville, Australia to Venice is an approximately 29-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of train and flight. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Via Caracciolo e Lungomare di Napoli and Underground Naples.
