5 days in Varanasi, Rishikesh & Haridwar Itinerary

A sacred city for Hindus and thought by many to be the place where Buddhism formed as a religion, Varanasi leaves an imprint on the hearts and minds of visitors regardless of their creed, race, or religion.

On the 15th (Sat), make a trip to Ganga Aarti.

Pune to Varanasi is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. In February, plan for daily highs up to 31°C, and evening lows to 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel to Rishikesh.

Rishikesh draws in visitors of all creeds with its wealth of ashrams and yoga and meditation teaching centers.

Kick off your visit on the 17th (Mon): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sivananda Ashram, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Parmath Niketan Temple, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Swarg Ashram.

You can fly from Varanasi to Rishikesh in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Cap off your sightseeing on the 17th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Haridwar.

An ancient city on the banks of the Ganges, Haridwar has been an important Hindu pilgrimage center since time immemorial.

Start off your visit on the 18th (Tue): don't miss a visit to Shanti Kunj Gayatri Parivar Haridwar, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Daksheshwar Mahadev, then take in nature's colorful creations at Swami Vivekanand Park, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Chandi Devi Temple. On the 19th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the spiritual surroundings of Ganga Aarti at Haridwar, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Vaishno Devi Temple, and then take in the pleasant sights at Birla Ghat.
