Val d'Isere

— 4 nights
Val d'Isère is a commune of the Tarentaise Valley, in the Savoie department (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region) in southeastern France. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Refuge du Prariond Par Les Gorges de Malpasset and Little St Bernard Pass. Change things up with these side-trips from Val d'Isere: Lac de la Plagne (in Landry), Sollieres-Sardieres (Monolithe de Sardiere & Sensations Vanoise) and Glacier de la Grande Motte (in Tignes). There's still lots to do: stop by Hors Limites, head outdoors with Sentier Botanique, make a trip to Col du Mont-Cenis, and contemplate the waterfront views at Lac de Tignes.

To see maps, traveler tips, where to stay, and other tourist information, you can read our Val d'Isere online journey planner.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major aiports are Chambéry-Savoie Airport, Grenoble-Isère Airport and Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport. In July in Val d'Isere, expect temperatures between 38°C during the day and 20°C at night.
