Though its cuisine has spread throughout the country and beyond, Udupi retains a small-town charm.

Venture out of the city with trips to Mangalore (Surathkal Beach, Kudroli Gokarnath Temple, &more). There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Sri Krishna Temple, enjoy the sand and surf at St. Mary's Island, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Kapu Beach.
