Gateway to the Highlands

Inverness, often described as the Gateway to the Highlands, is a thriving commercial and industrial center.
Kick off your visit on the 27th (Mon): get interesting insight from Tours. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 28th (Tue): enjoy the sand and surf at Loch Morlich, then look for all kinds of wild species at Cairngorm Reindeer Centre, then explore the ancient world of Clava Cairns, and finally don't miss a visit to Culloden Battlefield.

London to Inverness is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also take a train; or drive. Expect a bit cooler temperatures when traveling from London in July; daily highs in Inverness reach 22°C and lows reach 11°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 28th (Tue) so you can go by car to Fort William.

Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. Start off your visit on the 29th (Wed): contemplate the long history of Glenfinnan Viaduct, identify plant and animal life at Highland Titles Nature Reserve, and then appreciate the views at Glen Coe. Keep things going the next day: take in the awesome beauty at Nevis Range Mountain Resort, take in the awesome beauty at Ben Nevis, and then admire the sheer force of Steall Waterfall.

You can drive from Inverness to Fort William in 2 hours. Another option is to take a bus. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Thu) to allow time to drive to Glasgow.

On the 31st (Fri), steep yourself in history at The Mackintosh House, take in the spiritual surroundings of Glasgow Cathedral, then explore the different monuments and memorials at The Necropolis, and finally snap pictures at South Portland Street Suspension Bridge.
