Folkestone is a port town on the English Channel, in Kent, south-east England. Get out of town with these interesting Folkestone side-trips: The White Cliffs of Dover (in Dover), Rye (Rye Harbour Nature Reserve & Rye Heritage Centre) and Walmer Castle and Gardens (in Walmer). There's lots more to do: step into the grandiose world of Dover Castle, make a trip to Eurotunnel Le Shuttle, pause for some photo ops at Battle of Britain Memorial, and meet the residents at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park.

To see traveler tips, more things to do, maps, and more tourist information, go to the Folkestone route builder app.

Birmingham to Folkestone is an approximately 3.5-hour car ride. You can also take a train; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 21°C in June, and nighttime lows around 15°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Thu) to allow time to drive back home.
