Merida
Mérida is the capital of the autonomous community of Extremadura, western central Spain. Start off your visit on the 29th (Sun): contemplate the long history of Alcazaba, make a trip to Templo de Diana, take an in-depth tour of Museo Nacional de Arte Romano, then steep yourself in history at Star Archway (Arco de la Estrella), and finally appreciate the extensive heritage of Old Town of Caceres. Keep things going the next day: step into the grandiose world of Castillo de Trujillo (Trujillo Castle), don't miss a visit to Plaza Mayor de Trujillo, pause for some photo ops at Estatua Ecuestre de Francisco Pizarro, then make a trip to Acueducto de los Milagros, and finally snap pictures at Roman Bridge.

Drive from Plasencia to Merida in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. In September in Merida, expect temperatures between 35°C during the day and 19°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Mon) to allow time to drive back home.
