Sasebo

— 48 nights
With its U.S. Navy base, Sasebo has certainly developed pockets with an international feel: in downtown, often known as Sailor Town, you'll happen upon a number of eateries serving American-style hamburgers.
Escape the urban bustle at Mt. Inasa and Neshiko Beach. Glover Garden and Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Sasebo side-trips: Nagasaki (Hypocenter of Atomic Bombing, Noguchi Yataro Memorial Art Museum, &more), Karatsu (Historial Remains of Kishitake Old Kiln, Karatsu Castle, &more) and Anego no Hama (in Itoshima). Pack the 7th (Sun) with family-friendly diversions at Huis Ten Bosch. There's much more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Ohashikannonji, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Miuracho Catholic Church, visit Arita Townscape, and head off the coast to Kujuku Island.

If you are flying in from Trinidad and Tobago, the closest major aiports are Fukuoka Airport and Kagoshima Airport. In April, daily temperatures in Sasebo can reach 22°C, while at night they dip to 14°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Thu) early enough to travel back home.
