Emerald City

Nicknamed the "Emerald City" because of its abundant evergreen trees, Seattle is the cultural and business center of the Pacific Northwest, as well as a popular holiday destination.
Get in touch with nature at Hiram M. Chittenden Locks and Alki Beach. Venture out of the city with trips to Bloedel Reserve (in Bainbridge Island), Mt Si (in North Bend) and Picnic Point Park (in Edmonds). There's much more to do: take in the exciting artwork at Chihuly Garden and Glass, see the interesting displays at The Museum of Flight, explore the world behind art at Seattle Art Museum, and get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Seattle Aquarium.

Auckland, New Zealand to Seattle is an approximately 19-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 20 hours traveling from Auckland to Seattle. The Alamo City

As the state’s second largest city, San Antonio embodies Texas’ rich cultural heritage while maintaining the Old West charm of an oil town.
Kick off your visit on the 11th (Thu): explore the fascinating underground world of Natural Bridge Caverns, then stroll around Friedrich Wilderness Park, and then go for a walk through The San Antonio River Walk. Here are some ideas for day two: find something for the whole family at SeaWorld and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at San Fernando De Bexar Cathedral.

You can fly from Seattle to San Antonio in 5.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. The time zone changes from Pacific Standard Time to Central Standard Time, which is usually a 2 hour difference. In July, San Antonio is somewhat warmer than Seattle - with highs of 43°C and lows of 28°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 13th (Sat) to allow enough time to fly to Houston.

Bayou City

Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Escape the urban bustle at Lone Star Trapeze Academy and Cockrell Butterfly Center. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Houston: Brazos Bend State Park (in Needville), Washington (Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site & Barrington Living History Farm) and Kemah Boardwalk (in Kemah). Spend the 23rd (Tue) exploring nature at Big Thicket National Preserve. There's lots more to do: test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms, brush up on your military savvy at Commemorative Air Force - Houston Wing, stroll through White Oak Bayou Trail, and see where the action happens at Minute Maid Park.

Getting from San Antonio to Houston by flight takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. In July, plan for daily highs up to 41°C, and evening lows to 29°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 2nd (Fri) to allow time for the flight back home.
