Formed by the gradual merging of several old fishing villages, today the island town of Motobu-cho boasts paradisal beaches of white sand, clear waters, and a rich array of wildlife.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Motobu-cho: Kouri Ohashi (in Nakijin-son), Sefa-Utaki (in Nanjo) and Cape Manzamo (in Onna-son). And it doesn't end there: meet the residents at Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, contemplate the long history of Nakijin Castle Ruins, see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, and relax in the rural setting at Aiai Farm.

Step out of Nagasaki with an excursion to Huis Ten Bosch in Sasebo--about 1h 15 min away. Getting from Motobu-cho to Nagasaki by combination of ferry and flight takes about 7 hours. Other options: do a combination of ferry and train; or do a combination of ferry and car. Traveling from Motobu-cho in December, expect Nagasaki to be a bit cooler, temps between 13°C and 7°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 8th (Sun) early enough to catch the train to Hiroshima.
