Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.

Miyakojima

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Take a break from the city and head to Kayaking & Canoeing and Tomori Imugya Beach. Visit Nagamahama Beach Coast and Hora Gyoko no Hama Beach for some beach relaxation. Onna-son

Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
Appreciate the collections at Okinawa Prefecture Karate Museum and Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Okuma Beach and Akabaka Beach. Take a break from Onna-son with a short trip to Nakijin Castle Ruins in Nakijin-son, about 1 hour away. Kanazawa

An old castle town largely unspoiled during World War II, Kanazawa features well-preserved architecture spread across a range of districts.
Shirakawago and Shirayama Hime Shrine will appeal to history buffs. Museum-lovers will appreciate Motorcar Museum of Japan and Kanazawa Phonograph Museum. Getting from Onna-son to Kanazawa by flight takes about 8 hours. Other options: do a combination of taxi, ferry, and train; or do a combination of car and ferry. Prepare for a bit cooler weather when traveling from Onna-son in April: high temperatures in Kanazawa hover around 20°C and lows are around 8°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Fri) to allow time to drive to Matsue.
