Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Piazza delle Erbe and Giudecca 795 Art Gallery. Let the collections at Doge's Palace and Museo Ebraico di Venezia capture your imagination. In many ways the most modern of Italian cities, Milan is a busy, elegant metropolis with an impressive list of grand palaces, fine churches, and important museums.
For shopping fun, head to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II or Micromercato Moltrasio. Duomo di Milano and Pinacoteca Ambrosiana are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Venture out of the city with trips to Santuario Della Madonna delle Grazie di San Martino (in Griante), Villa del Balbianello (in Tremezzina) and Casa dei Presepi (in Mezzegra). Next up on the itinerary: contemplate the long history of Castello Sforzesco, appreciate the extensive heritage of Centro Storico, pause for some serene contemplation at Chiesa di S.
