Establishing a name for itself as "Korea's Ecological Capital," Suncheon sits nestled on the southwest coastline of the Korean peninsula, a haven of scenic beauty.
Get some cultural insight at Hwaeomsa Temple and Unjusa. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Suncheon Bay Garden and Suncheon Hyanggyo. Step out of Suncheon to go to Gurye-gun and see Saseongam Temple 四聖庵, which is approximately 58 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: walk around Suncheon Bay Wetland Reserve, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Songgwangsa Temple, and make a trip to Suncheon Open Film Set.

You can fly from Jeju to Suncheon in 2.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of ferry and taxi; or do a combination of ferry and train. In December, plan for daily highs up to 1°C, and evening lows to -1°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 14th (Tue) early enough to travel to Gongju.

Gongju, also spelt Kongju, is a city in South Chungcheong province, South Korea.HistoryGongju was formerly named Ungjin and was the capital of Baekje from AD 475 to 538. Kick off your visit on the 15th (Wed): take in the spiritual surroundings of Magoksa Temple, then see the interesting displays at Gongju National Museum, and then contemplate the long history of Gongsanseong. On your second day here, examine the collection at Buyeo National Museum, then contemplate the long history of Busosanseong Fortress, and then steep yourself in history at Nakhwaam Rock.

Traveling by car from Gyeongju to Busan takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from Gyeongju in January: highs in Busan hover around 7°C, while lows dip to -3°C. On the 8th (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
