Capital of the Inca Empire for three centuries, World Heritage-listed Cusco is now a major tourist destination, drawing nearly 2 million annual tourists with its well-preserved colonial architecture and proximity to Machu Picchu.
Go for a jaunt from Cusco to Pisac to see Pisac about 52 minutes away. There's much more to do: steep yourself in history at Sacsayhuaman, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Iglesia De Santo Domingo, explore the ancient world of Sacred Valley of the Incas, and get the lay of the land with Walking tours.

Sydney, Australia to Cusco is an approximately 19.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 15 hours traveling from Sydney to Cusco. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Sydney in November: high temperatures in Cusco hover around 26°C and lows are around 8°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel to Machu Picchu.
