Situated in a basin between two mountain ranges, Taipei appeals to tourists with its blend of Asian cultures, living side by side amidst Japanese-era mansions and Taoist temples.
Get out of town with these interesting Taipei side-trips: YehLiu Geopark (in Wanli), Ruifang (Nanzilin Trail, Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street), &more) and Jinshan Shuiwei Fishing Port (in Jinshan). Spend the 12th (Fri) exploring nature at Yangmingshan National Park. There's still lots to do: pause for some photo ops at Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, trek along Xin Dian Hermeishan Hiking Trail, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Lungshan Temple, and meet the residents at Taipei Zoo.

Calgary, Canada to Taipei is an approximately 16.5-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 15 hours traveling from Calgary to Taipei. Traveling from Calgary in November, things will get much warmer in Taipei: highs are around 77°F and lows about 67°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Mon) to allow time to take a train to Kaohsiung.

A small trading town in the 17th century, Kaohsiung now stands as a sprawling metropolis, its harbor representing the largest on the island.
Venture out of the city with trips to Chihkan Tower (Fort Provintia) (in West Central District), Chimei Museum (in Rende) and Liuqiu (Scuba & Snorkeling & Xiao Liu Qiu). And it doesn't end there: step off the mainland to explore Cijin Island, expand your understanding of the military at Anping Fort (Anping gubao), take in the exciting artwork at The Pier-2 Art Centre, and get engrossed in the history at Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum.

Take a train from Taipei to Kaohsiung in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. Traveling from Taipei in November, expect nights in Kaohsiung to be about the same, around 71°F, while days are a bit warmer, around 84°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Hengchun.

Located on the southern tip of the eponymous peninsula, Hengchun serves as the entry point to Kenting National Park, often attracting more travelers than locals with its tropical beach resorts and bustling night markets.
Hengchun is known for nature, parks, and shopping. Chiayi

The provincial city in the county of the same name, Chiayi sits as the gateway to the national scenic mountain area of Alishan.
Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Chiayi: 36 Curve Road (in Meishan), Beigang (Bei Gang Wu de Temple God of Wealth Temple & Bei Gang Chao Tian Temple) and Xiluo Fusing Temple (in Dapi).
