Originally built as a base for Vail Ski Resort, the town of Vail has blossomed into its own destination, but still has less than 6,000 permanent residents.
Argo Mill and Tunnel and Fossil Posse Adventures will appeal to museum buffs. Vail Valley and Barney Ford Victorian House are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Vail side-trips: Thermal Spas (in Glenwood Springs), Edwin Carter Discovery Center (in Breckenridge) and Eagle Tourist Information Center (in Eagle). Next up on the itinerary: tour the pleasant surroundings at Vail Mountain Resort, go deep underground at Capital Prize Gold Mine Tour, examine the collection at Georgetown Firefighting Museum, and take a memorable drive along Argentine Pass.

In March, plan for daily highs up to 33°F, and evening lows to 19°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Mon) so you can travel back home.
