City of Oaks

For those not from the South, Raleigh might be one of the region's better-kept travel secrets.
Step out of the city life by going to JC Raulston Arboretum at NC State University and Raven Rock State Park. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Historic Yates Mill County Park and Artspace. Go for a jaunt from Raleigh to Smithfield to see Ava Gardner Museum about 38 minutes away. There's still lots to do: hike along Neuse River Trail, visit Historic Oakwood, admire the masterpieces at Gregg Museum of Art & Design, and stroll the grounds of Historic Oakwood Cemetery.

New Brunswick to Raleigh is an approximately 5-hour combination of car and flight. You can also do a combination of car and flight; or drive. Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from New Brunswick in May: highs in Raleigh hover around 79°F, while lows dip to 58°F. On the 20th (Thu), you'll have the morning to explore before heading back home.
