Most visitors take a trip to Nags Head to enjoy the beach, but this Outer Banks town offers more than just waterside entertainment.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Nags Head: Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Historic Site & Museum (in Rodanthe), Pea Island Art Gallery, Salvo, NC (in Salvo) and Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (in Buxton). The adventure continues: explore the striking landscape at Jockey's Ridge State Park, take in the waterfront at Duck Town Boardwalk, enjoy the sea views from Currituck Beach Lighthouse and Museum, and get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour.

For maps, other places to visit, ratings, and other tourist information, you can read our Nags Head trip itinerary website .

Columbia to Nags Head is an approximately 5.5-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive; or do a combination of train, bus, and car. Expect little chillier weather when traveling from Columbia in September: highs in Nags Head hover around 79°F, while lows dip to 69°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 30th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
