Ocracoke is a census-designated place (CDP) and unincorporated town located at the southern end of Ocracoke Island, located entirely within Hyde County, North Carolina. Get out of town with these interesting Ocracoke side-trips: Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (in Buxton), Lee Robinson's General Store (in Hatteras) and Avon Fishing Pier (in Avon). There's lots more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Ocracoke Lifeguarded Beach, identify plant and animal life at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, visit a coastal fixture at Ocracoke Lighthouse, and examine the collection at Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum.

To see maps, traveler tips, where to stay, and other tourist information, refer to the Ocracoke day trip app .

In September, daily temperatures in Ocracoke can reach 82°F, while at night they dip to 70°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Fri) to allow time to travel back home.
