4 days in Lake Balaton Itinerary

Located on Heviz Lake, the world's second-largest thermal lake, Heviz is a charming little spa town.

Kick off your visit on the 23rd (Fri): get outside with Municipal Beach, admire the landmark architecture of Festetics Palace, then explore the activities along Thermal Lake of Heviz, and finally admire the landmark architecture of Mary Magdalene church in Egregy. Budapest to Heviz is an approximately 2-hour car ride. You can also drive; or take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. In October in Heviz, expect temperatures between 19°C during the day and 7°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Sat) so you can go by car to Balatonfured.

Balatonfüred is a popular resort town in Veszprém county, in Hungary, with a population of 13,000, situated on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. On the 25th (Sun), enjoy the sand and surf at Tagore Promenade, take in the spiritual surroundings of Via Dolorosa, then contemplate the long history of Bences Apatsag, and finally examine the collection at Jokai Mor Memorial House.

You can drive from Heviz to Balatonfured in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 17°C in October, and nighttime lows around 10°C. You'll have a few hours on the 26th (Mon) to wrap things up before traveling home.
