Klaipeda County travel guide

4.2
Landmarks · Specialty Museums · National Parks
The only one of the nation's 10 counties to have a coastline, Klaipeda County boasts gorgeous views over the water. Showcasing its German roots, this former Prussian capital's Old Town is lined with cobblestone streets leading the way to historic attractions like the remains of an impressive red brick castle. Today, the river running through the center of the region acts a divider between the past and progressive present, with the region south of the river showcasing newer, modern buildings, while the north side preserves hallmarks from the 13th to 18th centuries. Be sure to fit in a visit to the port of call, the only one in the country large enough for ships the size of the Titanic.
